  Making 607 crumble

  during my eight month long study with "elder bob" (moms husband) we have batted around many subjects to say the least.

  but the one that really stands out is the dreaded date of 607 bc.

  im sorry i just will not let up with this date, and him having to prove it can stand.

  WHY did you get baptised?

  i was just thinking back to when i got baptised.

  and i dont really remember the real reason why.. thinking about it seems to bring up the idea that i only got baptised because of the way everyone treats you when they find out you are getting dunked - and not specifically to serve jehovah.. baptism day comes and you sit there and listen to the talk.

  then you go out and get your swimming duds on and line up at the "whatever it is they decide to dunk you in".

  my mother gave me the last few watchtower and awakes when i visited her this week.....in the 1-1-04 watchtower, under the article---"jehovah's word is alive---highlights from the book of genesis---1"-------on page 29, the question is asked:"did jehovah god speak to adam directly?

  " notice their answer.

  "the bible reveals that when god spoke to humans, it was often through an angel.

  My favourite is "Some scholars suggest" in the Should You Believe in the Trinity booklet and other publications when explaining Thomas' 'exclamation'.

  John 20:28 In answer Thomas said to him: "My Lord and my God

  Should You Believe in the Trinity

  But what about the apostle Thomas? saying, "My Lord and my God!" to Jesus at John 20:28? To Thomas, Jesus was like "a god," especially in the miraculous circumstances that prompted his exclamation.

  I don't see any exclamation mark in the Greek text.

  I guess that is because I am not 'anointed'

  My parents would rather burn in hell than admit they are wrong. I've never been baptized, but only drifted out without knowing how wrong it all was until a few months ago.

  I told them.

  They didn't like it.

  They still keep in regular contact, but don't discuss it with me. They do have a bad habit of talking about their wonderful experiences in the work in my presence and I will have to give them the message that it is not a good idea. I may have to get my wife to tell them for me as I can be rather undiplomatic when riled, as those who read the original post may have noticed. LOL.
